HEAVYWEIGHT RIDDIMS: THE TIGHTERS MEET JERRY JOHNSON ON PURE LOVE

Reggae collective The Tighters have joined forces with legendary Bronx saxophonist Jerry Johnson for their freshly released single, Pure Love. This stellar collaboration includes Pure Dub, bringing Roberto Sánchez, an absolute master of reggae production, into the fold.

Jerry “Saxman” Johnson is reggae royalty. He famously forged his signature brass sound at Lloyd Barnes’ iconic 1976 Wackies label. Over a glittering career, he has shared stages with titans like Burning Spear, Steel Pulse, and Sugar Minott.

A BLISSFUL, HEAVYWEIGHT MEETING OF MUSICAL MINDS

For this pristine cut, the legendary Roberto Sánchez takes the mixing reins at A-Lone Ark Muzik Studio in Spain. He delivers a crisp vocal mix alongside a heavy, echo-drenched counterpart, Pure Dub.

Bringing a final touch of analogue magic, Dr Charty at Bat Records mastered the track using a vintage Studer A80 tape machine. This sonic treatment injects a gorgeous, golden-era warmth into every single beat. It is a blissful, heavyweight meeting of musical minds.
