CRAFTED IN FULL: THE SIMPKIN PROJECT EVOLVE WITH HELPING HAND
Southern California’s roots reggae torchbearers, The Simpkin Project, return with Helping Hand—a richly textured, heart-forward release landing on 25 April 2025. Recorded in the band’s own Huntington Beach studios, this fifth full-length album doesn’t just hit—it breathes.
Self-produced and independently released, Helping Hand is the product of time, intention, and total creative freedom. Every element—from live-tracked rhythms by Sean Kennedy and Ralph Arenas to the warm, analogue tones of Shawn Taylor’s keyboards—feels crafted with care. And when Andrew “Konker Spliff” steps in on vocals, the band’s message gains even more soul.
Released last year, first single Politricks laid the groundwork with a cinematic video and a haunting string-and-pedal-steel arrangement.
EVERY ELEMENT FEELS CRAFTED WITH CARE AND TOTAL CREATIVE FREEDOM
Meanwhile, the long-awaited Let It Go finally finds its home here, featuring a guest return from Jules Luna.
Other highlights? International Love erupts with bold brass, while She Calls Me gets a dreamy lift from Nathan Aurora (Iya Terra, Aurorawave). The result? A body of work that radiates unity, depth, and craft.
Want more? The 180g Red Nova vinyl edition is limited to just 100 copies—pure warmth for analogue lovers. Order via Bandcamp at simpkinproject.bandcamp.com/album/helping-hand
Catch the band live on 26 April at the Garden Amphitheatre, California, USA.
