DUB FROM THE COSMOS: JAMES PASQUA TAKES DUB INTO DEEP SPACE
Miles above the Las Vegas Valley, among decaying stars and nebulae, something stirs. Nebula, the quietly absorbing second single from James Pasqua’s sophomore album Dubbing Out of Orbit, suggests an artist who has found his orbit and is content to stay there.
Pasqua recorded and produced the album entirely at his Las Vegas home studio for Cold Summer Records. It follows his debut, The Arcadia Sessions: A Dub Experience, and the progression is audible. He draws faithfully from Jamaican dub traditions, coaxing reverb and delay into shapes that feel genuinely spatial rather than merely decorative.

Across twelve fully instrumental tracks, powerful drums anchor a sound that might otherwise float away entirely. Bass lines do the heavy lifting. Riffs and melodies warp under the forces of space and time, unearthly yet rhythmically grounded. At its best, the album rewards deep listening with textures that reveal themselves slowly.
