NOTHING NEW: JOSEPH BENAIAH ROOTS HIS SOUND IN THE ETERNAL

Roots reggae has always carried the weight of time, and Joseph Benaiah’s remastered single Nothing New Under The Sun feels like proof. The Kingston-recorded track asks a deceptively simple question: why do we keep fighting the same battles? Its answer lands with quiet, spiritual authority.

Lyrically, the song reaches back through centuries of human experience. Joseph Benaiah draws from Ecclesiastes and the idea that there is nothing new under the sun, building something timeless around it.

The message is ancient. “This song speaks about life’s journeys,” he explains, “and how to overcome adversity by aligning with the Most High God.”

Recorded at Mixing Lab Studio, the production breathes with organic warmth. Kurt Bennett drives the rhythm on drums, Danny Basie of Firehouse Crew holds down a deep, rolling bassline, and Robby Lynn and Leroy Romans layer keyboards with real reverence. Benaiah himself plays guitar throughout.

ROOTS REGGAE HAS ALWAYS CARRIED THE WEIGHT OF TIME

Then the horns arrive. Ras Brass, featuring Dean Frazier, Chico Chin, and Nambo Robinson, delivers a brass section that stops you in your tracks. The Daffodils complete the picture with harmonies that feel both earned and deeply felt.

This marks Benaiah’s second outing ahead of his forthcoming album, following the compelling His Majesty Is Coming. Both singles point toward an artist working with genuine intention, someone who treats their music as living testimony.

Nothing New follows its own path, grounded in purpose and tradition.
