Featuring Raggo Zulu Rebel and produced by Dougie Conscious on the Nah Retreat Riddim, this EP includes two vocal song versions and two dub versions, all of which have been mixed, mastered, and dubbed to perfection by Dougie Conscious.

Truesounds is all about paying homage to the sound system culture that originated in Jamaica in the 1950s and has since spread worldwide. Made up of a collective of artists, producers, engineers, and DJs from different countries, nationalities, and backgrounds, this label creates music for the dancehall with diverse influences across various genres and styles. Raggo Zulu Rebel, also known as Jah Messenger, is a conscious recording artist, songwriter, and performer from London. He is also a content provider, youth worker, and workshop facilitator. Raggo Zulu Rebel has been performing since he was nine, and his first track, “UK Rap,” was recorded when he was thirteen. He has shared the stage with artists such as Rebel MC, General Levy, Lee Scratch Perry, Rodney P, and Guru from Gangstar.

Dougie Conscious, a London-based reggae dub producer and record label owner (Conscious Sounds), produces the Nah Retreat Riddim. His music career began in the late 80s when he ran Dub Shack Records at Camden Lock Market. Inspired by early digital steppers, Dougie recorded his first release at Nick Manasseh’s house. Since then, he has worked with artists like Kenny Knots and Culture Freeman and is part of The Bush Chemists. Jah Shaka’s encouragement has been instrumental in Dougie’s success.

The song “Never Beg No Friend” is a conscious, streetwise banger about living a righteous life, eating and living well, and never being fake. The song fits perfectly on the Nah Retreat Riddim from Dougie Conscious. The song even gives a shoutout to Benny, aka Ghettofix from Truesounds, as an anti-government/Babylon gesture.
