Putumayo’s Reggae Odyssey invites listeners on an inspiring journey through the universal language of reggae. Spanning continents and cultures, this rich album features 10 tracks from rising talents around the world, blending soulful rhythms with uplifting messages of love, hope, and resilience.
Costa Rica’s Ojo de Buey kicks things off with Jugada de Pared, a metaphorical celebration of teamwork and simplicity, set to a lively rhythm. From Switzerland, Famara’s Peace fuses African dialects and reggae beats, delivering a heartfelt plea to end conflict.
Kazdoura, hailing from Syria and Lebanon, reimagines a Khaleeji classic in Gulli MetaShoofak, a mesmerising blend of Arabic tradition and reggae soul. Meanwhile, the UK’s Big Chip teams up with Run Come Down and Cornerstone Horns for Final Offer, a jazzy instrumental steeped in reggae’s roots.
Another standout track is Amor Contam by Guinea-Bissau’s Iragrett Tavares, featuring the iconic Micas Cabral. This heartfelt ballad invites a lover to open up and share their deepest emotions. Over a soothing reggae backdrop, Tavares’ tender vocals and Cabral’s intricate guitar melodies intertwine, creating a poignant ode to vulnerability and connection.
The journey continues with Hawaiian artist Azato offering a deeply personal ballad Come My Way, about finding solace through faith after loss. Senegalese talent Mariaa Siga joins French producer Oddy for Boukanack, uniting languages and cultures in a universal message of peace.
Australian artist Mista Savona created the track Lambs Bread Collie, inspired by Cedric ‘Im’ Brooks. While Kimi Djabaté’s song Afonhe and Rocky Dawuni’s Children of Abraham focus on empathy and coexistence.
