Conscious Roots Reggae Artist Azato Has Released A New Single, “When We Gonna Start?” Reggae Tastemaker

BREAKING CHAINS: AZATO AND JONAH JAZON UNITE IN NEW SINGLE “WHEN WE GONNA START?”

Azato has released a heartfelt, conscious new single, “When We Gonna Start?” It is a roots reggae song featuring Jonah Jaxon that reflects their tireless work with at-risk teenagers through non-profit organisations.

The programmes focus on nurturing creativity, life skills, and personal and spiritual growth within the inner-city community of Kalihi/Honolulu in Hawaii.

Azato, who has dedicated over 25 years to working with inner-city youth in San Diego and Honolulu, shares that one of the most challenging aspects of this work is the heartbreaking loss of young friends. He has mourned the passing of more than 40 students due to street violence and holds each of their memories close to his heart.

“When We Gonna Start” not only addresses the gang violence that plagues our city streets, but also speaks to the depths of our own hearts.

THE SONG SERVES AS A TRIBUTE TO THOSE WHO LEFT THIS WORLD TOO SOON

Released on Tree n One Records, the track’s chorus poses a poignant question: “When are we gonna start loving each other? When are we gonna stop fighting our sisters and brothers?” Azato’s hope is that we can all cultivate deeper love and compassion for everyone we encounter. Love, he believes, is the ultimate answer.

“When We Gonna Start” serves as both a beacon of hope and a tribute to those who left this world too soon. Jonah Jaxon, known as ‘Big Mox’, joins Azato on this track. Jonah, who runs the non-profit organisation T-Shirt Theater, shares Azato’s commitment to supporting at-risk youth in the Hawaiian islands.

Through powerful verses and a compelling bridge, “When We Gonna Start” urges us to lay down our arms, embrace love, and cease the cycle of violence. It’s a call to action, a plea for unity, and a reminder that change begins with each of us.
