SOUND SYSTEM UPRISING: NOISESHAPER & SIMPLE STRAW DROP FLY UP

Noiseshaper are back in full force with Fly Up, a high-pressure dub transmission built for both sound system and spirit. Featuring Jamaican vocalist Simple Straw, this third single from their upcoming album Welcome The Unknown lands like a flare from deep space, glowing with echo and intention.

Simple Straw delivers a raw, melodic chant, cutting through a layered arrangement of smoked-out basslines, dubwise percussion, and subtle digital burn. There’s lift in the mix, but also weight. This is not easy listening; it’s engineered for impact.

After a few quiet years, the group sparked again in 2019 with King Size Dub Special and a heavyweight session with Paolo Baldini Dubfiles. Their next move? Bring original bassist Clemens Handler back in and start sculpting a fresh body of work.

2023’s Listen To The Sound EP hinted at the rebirth. With tracks like Rock Your Bone and a sharp Horace Andy remix, Noiseshaper made it clear they weren’t easing back; they were doubling down.

Fly Up sharpens that momentum. The video, shot on location in Port Antonio by Pieyaka DubStudio and cut by René von der Waar, reinforces the tune’s core message: rise up and move with purpose.

Dub house, dub techno, and deep dub roots collide here. Noiseshaper are architects of dub’s evolving edge, carving their own frequency with precision, depth and fearless intent.

Noiseshaper, the Vienna-born duo of Axel Hirn and Florian Fleischmann, found their rhythm after moving to Berlin. Fusing dub roots with electronic energy, they gained early acclaim on UK label Different Drummer. Their 2001 debut, Prelaunch Sequence and 2003’s The Signal opened global doors.

Collaborations followed with Dennis Bovell, Sly and Robbie, and Adrian Sherwood. In 2023, they returned with Listen To The Sound, featuring Simple Straw and a striking remix of Horace Andy’s Skylarking.
