WORLD CITIZEN: IRIE SOULJAH TAKES ROOTS REGGAE TO GLOBAL EARS
From Barcelona streets to Kingston dancehalls, Irie Souljah has built his sound on movement. His new album World Citizen is a ten-track shot of roots reggae with a passport, out now via Ineffable Records.
Alborosie powers through Another Way, a heavy cut about pushing forward when the road turns rough. Kabaka Pyramid steps into the title track, spitting lines on migration and identity over a rhythm built for big speakers. From the militant Rasta At The Control to the hazy Me & My Weed, the record swings between fire and smoke without losing focus.
IT IS ROOTS STRIPPED TO THE BONE AND DRIPPING WITH THE GRIT OF KINGSTON’S SOUND SYSTEM YARDS
Produced by Genís Trani, it is roots stripped to the bone, tuned for global ears, and dripping with the grit of Kingston’s sound system yards. Irie Souljah’s Mediterranean roots bring a different flavour, adding brightness without softening the edges.
He has already traded stages with Chronixx, Damian Marley, and Cocoa Tea, rocked Reggaeland 2025 alongside Kabaka Pyramid, and formed his own live unit, The Rising Suns, with Matthew Malcolm and Quan Dajai.
Fresh from touring through Denmark, Germany, Spain, and Italy, World Citizen feels like a mission statement: reggae built for borderless listening.
