BOOMBAP MEETS REGGAE IN GUS WALKER’S ‘UNDER THE SUN’
Dutch artist Gus Walker returns with the shimmering Under The Sun, a vivid, soul-searching blend of boom bap beats and roots reggae warmth. The Dutch artist, already turning heads with his 2023 debut Pink Skies, now opens a fresh chapter with a track made for reflective strolls, late light and head-nodding introspection.
Produced and co-written with Gijs Berger and Lauran Neerincx, the single shimmers with crisp brass, agile basslines and understated guitar, played by a tight collective of collaborators.
The mix, by Berger and Boudewijn Pleij, is warm and textured. Mastering from DaGoose rounds it off with subtle polish, while Evy Cratsborn’s video pairs sun-drenched imagery with the track’s meditative pulse.

Walker draws on a deep well of influence. His sound folds together the meditative cadence of Burning Spear, the lyrical sharpness of 2Pac and Kendrick, and the desert swing of Tinariwen. It’s music that feels both grounded and open-ended.
“This one’s for summer nights and solo walks,” Walker says. “It’s reflective, but still uplifting.”
Under The Sun is also the first of several singles set to build toward a larger release later this year. If this is the starting point, expect what follows to push further, dig deeper and burn brighter.
