NAYA ROCKERS & IVAN NEVILLE DROP THEIR SINGLE “HIGHER EDUCATION” WITH A MISSION

Who’s ready for a roots reggae experience with a social conscience? Naya Rockers and Ivan Neville dropped their latest single, ‘Higher Education’ on 1 March, from the upcoming album by the same name.

The legendary Ivan Neville leads the vocals with a soulful voice that blends seamlessly with the driving reggae beat laid down by the Naya Rockers.

The ten-piece band features the iconic guitarist Earl ‘Chinna’ Smith (hailed by RollingStone magazine as one of the greatest!). This all-star lineup also includes members of The Skatalites, John Brown’s Body, and Slightly Stoopid.

But the star power doesn’t stop there. Producer, drummer and writer Nathan Sabanayagam and co-producer/bassist Nate Edgar assembled a true ‘Who’s Who’ of reggae veterans for the album.

The ‘Higher Education’ album features talented musicians, including Sister Nancy, Hector Lewis, Angelo Moore, Mike Love, Earl Chinna Smith, and Andy Bassford (Toots & The Maytals, Monty Alexander).

THEIR TRACK RECORD OF HELPING STUDENTS IS TRULY IMPRESSIVE

The album is not just about good music, it is also a way to support the future of reggae music. A significant portion of the proceeds from the album’s tracks and 100% of Floki Studios’ share will be used to support young Jamaican musicians in the Alpha School of Music.

The Naya Rockers are a reggae band led by writer, drummer, and producer Nathan Sabanayagam. For over twenty years, this core group of musicians has included a rotating cast of international singers and performers, including bassist Nate Edgar and keyboardist Cameron Greenlee.

The band is deeply involved in music production and works closely with the independent record label Naya Records. They have toured and recorded with reggae legends like The Skatalites, Stephen Marley, and The Wailers.

They continue to back next-generation artists, including Asadenaki Livingston, Kenyatta Hill, Blakkamoore, Hector Lewis, Yaadcoore, Addis Pablo, Jah’Mila Smith, and Iba Mhar.

ABOUT IVAN NEVILLE

New Orleans musician Ivan Neville carries on a rich musical legacy. His blood runs deep in two legendary New Orleans groups: The Meters and The Neville Brothers.

His uncle Art Neville was a key member of The Meters, whose funky grooves have been sampled countless times. Art also co-founded The Neville Brothers with Ivan’s uncles and father.

This powerhouse family band blended carnival rhythms, pop, soul, R&B, and jazz, creating a sound that captured the spirit of New Orleans and celebrated Black cultural life in the city.
