RAS TAMANO & DAHBORS FIND LIGHT IN THE ORDINARY ON RADIANT ‘SANPO’

Japanese reggae veterans Ras Tamano and Dahbors craft a luminous antidote to modern malaise on Sanpo, a digital single that drifts through your speakers like afternoon sun through curtains. Tamano’s gentle melodica floats atop Dahbors’ refined production of Benri na Yononaka (Convenient World), creating a sonic balm for shut-in souls and restless hearts alike.

The track glides with the ease of a neighbourhood walk. It wraps everyday moments in quiet warmth.

Dahbors speaks directly to our collective need for escape: “When you can’t leave the house, when you’re feeling down, I hope you can feel the blue sky, even when it’s difficult to go outside.” That tenderness reverberates through every note.

SANPO GLIDES WITH THE EASE OF A NEIGHBOURHOOD WALK

Tamano has long merged Nyahbinghi traditions with contemporary dub, building a catalogue that travels well beyond Japan’s borders. Dahbors operates deep in the underground roots scene, his work circulating through devoted reggae networks.

Together, the duo have created something unexpectedly vital. It’s a reminder that solace lives in small gestures.

He’s produced Sister Maki, contributed to Alpha Steppa’s catalogue, and supported Jah Shaka’s Japan tour, helping solidify Japan’s reggae and dub scene.

Dahbors operates deep within Japan’s underground dub scene. As a producer and instrumentalist, he works in the tradition fostered since Mute Beat and Dry & Heavy emerged in the 1980s.

His sound favours heavy basslines, echo-drenched melodica, and spiritual themes. Connected to sound system culture and small-label releases, Dahbors circulates through niche reggae networks, representing the collaborative backbone of Japanese roots production.
