TREISHA WILLIAMS FINDS TRUE LOVE IN HER NEW SINGLE
She may not have wings, but her angelic voice can reach great heights, spanning mountains, plains, and valleys. Treisha Williams, an outstanding gospel singer and creative teacher at Montego Bay Infant School, is a bundle of joy to those who believe faith can move mountains. It would make her day even if she could reach just one solitary soul.
Three years ago, Treisha, a graduate with a B.A. in Teacher Education from the International University of the Caribbean, won the Jamaica Gospel Song Competition, beating out a highly competitive field with her song ‘One Dose of The Holy Ghost’. This song moved people from all walks of life to praise God. Now, she is back with another song called ‘True Love’.
“This song is for everyone, including women, men, the saved, and the unsaved, as well as leaders, including governments and the people they lead,” says Treisha.
Treisha’s new single ‘True Love’ was recorded in Kingston and is released on all major platforms, including Spotify and iTunes “People will always love my songs because they are positive and inspiring,” she says.
Treisha is a creative teacher at Montego Bay Infant School for almost 20 years. She wanted to work with children that she could positively influence. “I love challenges because sometimes people believe that something is impossible when there are ways to make it happen,” she says.
Treisha’s students have won over 100 gold medals and 20 trophies in parish and national competitions. “My passion is to channel my creativity towards all children. I remember telling my peers that I wanted to send my babies (small children) to drama festival competitions. They thought it did not make much sense. But, here I am now, showing off the trophies and medals they have won,” she says.
Treisha has received several accolades, including Best National Individual Drama Coach, Best Overall Script for Drama on two pertinent themes – Easing, Teasing, Helping Student To Overcome Bullying, and We Are The Change.”
Her music career started even before she was a teenager. “It began at Kingsway Tabernacle in Pitfour, St. James. I was the first from my family to be baptised, and unlike several gospel singers, had no family influence,” she says.
She has performed at major shows, including Genesis, one of the biggest gospel events. Her seven songs include ‘Lift Up Your Vessels To Jesus’, ‘Trust In Him’, ‘Born to Save Us’, ‘Forward’, ‘Freedom’, and ‘God’s Gonna Fix It’.
