To get 2022 started, The Wise Bloods are to release a love song with a classic upbeat rubadub vibe as their first single of the year. The single entitled ‘Worth The Pain’ is produced by french producer and guitarist Thomas Broussad who is known across the reggae world for his work with leading artists such as Chronixx (Roots and Chalice) and Koffee.

Having already received radio premieres on Capital Xtra, Vibes FM and BBC 1xtra, ‘Worth The Pain’ has been described as yet another step forward for the independent selfreleasing reggae band. Lead singer Jesse- James describes the single as a bittersweet love ballad, which recognises the vulnerability that comes along with the intense feelings of falling in love. Jesse- James describes falling in love as an ‘emotional foolishness’ that ‘beats away rational judgements’ while walking into the ‘unknown of potential heartache and pain’. The song isn’t total doom and gloom though, James explains “Worth The Pain is about courage and trusting your instincts.

It’s about going for what you are passionate about even in the face of failure or heartache…I was falling for a girl who wanted something casual. Usually, that’s a major red flag for someone who wants something more, but I didn’t just want a relationship in itself, I wanted to spend more time with this one person I found so amazing. From my end, I knew from experience that the connection we had was something more. So, in the song I’m asking, are you not feeling this too? Experiencing an unprecedented passion was enough for me to ignore the warning signs and accept the risk of being hurt. Really, the message is – anything worth having is never easy, once you commit to something for your love of it, follow your heart and take the risk. If you do, you just might experience something special and profound that’s really worth living for and even if things don’t go as you’d hoped, you have proven your courage and are wiser for it. In fact, Worth The Pain will most likely be the title of the upcoming album, because it works as an analogy for living life as a musician or living life for any passion”
