Everyday warriors rise: Yeza and Rory Stonelove revive the spirit of Stagalag with ‘Roadrunner’. Reggae Tastemaker

YEZA & RORY STONELOVE REVIVE THE SPIRIT OF STAGALAG WITH ‘ROADRUNNER’

Jamaican singer Yeza delivers a bold and heartfelt salute to the unsung heroes in Roadrunner, a stirring collaboration with legendary producer Rory Stonelove. Rooted in the iconic Stagalag Riddim, the track arrives as Blackdub Music’s personal homage to Winston Riley’s foundational work.

Written by Yeza and brought to life visually by Vartex Studio, Roadrunner was recorded years ago but finds renewed urgency in 2025. It celebrates those who, in the face of hardship, reject violence and corruption, instead choosing honesty, focus, and inner strength.

With her sharp lyricism and unmistakable presence, Yeza channels a voice that is both ancestral and immediate. Her words honour the everyday strivers—the taxi drivers, market vendors, single parents—who keep their heads high and their records clean.

THE STAGALAG RIDDIM UNDERPINS YEZA’S MESSAGE WITH WEIGHT AND REVERENCE

Rory’s production keeps things stripped yet steady. The familiar pulse of the Stagalag riddim underpins Yeza’s message with weight and reverence, reminding listeners of reggae’s role as a platform for truth-tellers. With previous collaborations like Bullseye and Star Of The East, Yeza and Rory have already proved they speak the same language. This one drives it home.

In an industry quick to chase trends, Roadrunner plants its feet. It reminds us that roots reggae still has something to say, and Yeza’s the one saying it.
