UMBERTO ECHO AND MARK WONDER CRAFT TRANSCONTINENTAL ‘BETTER DAYS’

Umberto Echo joins forces with Jamaican roots singer Mark Wonder on Better Days, a radiant first taste of his upcoming album, The Afro Dub Experience. Over a buoyant, groove-heavy riddim, the track shines with the shimmering tones of the Kora, a West African harp-lute that threads its distinctive voice through the mix.

Mark Wonder’s soulful delivery lifts the song, while Echo’s meticulous dub production opens up space for every detail to breathe.

This collaboration reflects the album’s larger ambition. The Afro Dub Experience spans four continents and fifty years of Afro-Caribbean music, filtering it through Echo’s uniquely modern lens.

BETTER DAYS CELEBRATES ROOTS WHILE DARING TO PUSH THEM FORWARD

Deeply influenced by 1970s Afrobeat, his approach draws on lessons learned at Berlin’s Afrobeat Academy, working alongside musicians from Fela Kuti’s iconic Africa 70.

Better Days immerses listeners in a dialogue between eras, traditions, and genres. It’s music that celebrates roots while daring to push them forward.

ABOUT UMBERTO ECHO

Umberto Echo fuses analogue dub warmth with global currents, jazz, Afrobeat, and ambient textures. His solo albums, from Dubtrain to The Afrodub Experience, frame dub as a method, not genre.

Working with Sly & Robbie or Quadro Nuevo, he crafts sonic dialogue over simple collaboration. His engineering credits span 2,000 live shows and 350 albums.

Whether remixing Abdullah Ibrahim or mixing Sara Lugo, Echo builds sound worlds where past, present, and possibility hum in luminous vibration.
