TARRUS RILEY HONOURS LOVE AND LEGACY WITH ‘YOU + ME = GOOD LIFE’
Tarrus Riley steps into summer with You + Me = Good Life, a soulful, radiant single from Kareem ‘Remus’ Burrell for XTM.Nation. It lifts from Cocoa Tea’s 1994 treasure Good Life, first produced by Remus’ father, Philip ‘Fatis’ Burrell, and reimagines it for a new chapter.
With both Fatis and Cocoa Tea now gone, the track lands as a love letter to romance and the roots that shaped Riley’s artistry. His delivery is velvet-smooth yet loaded with feeling, folding lines like “Let me love you, come my way” into a melody that glows with intimacy and history.
“This song is about love in its purest form,” Riley says. “But at the same time, it’s a respectful nod to the ones who inspired and taught us through their music, Cocoa Tea and Fatis.”
A RESPECTFUL NOD TO THE ONES WHO INSPIRED AND TAUGHT US THROUGH THEIR MUSIC
Runkus builds a golden riddim, Wade Johnson’s keys shimmer, and Lamont ‘Monty’ Savory’s guitar lines sparkle. Vocoder accents float in the background. Veer Dhaniram’s mix keeps the sound warm and close.
Riley recently unveiled it at Reggae Sumfest in Montego Bay. He folded a tribute to Cocoa Tea into a performance that had the crowd locked in.
You + Me = Good Life feels set to hold its place in reggae’s living history.
