SOUND SYSTEM CHRONICLES: SPIRIT REVOLUTION’S ONE DROP REBELS
Spirit Revolution’s One Drop Rebels is a vibrant, sun-soaked journey through Jamaica’s musical landscape. Armed with heavyweight riddims crafted in advance, the French collective arrived ready to connect—and the results are electric.
Between Rebel Salute performances, cliff diving in Ocho Rios, and river sessions in Port Antonio, the group met some of the island’s most compelling voices.
Yaadcore lays down a rich, emotive track that inspired both Nyabinghi and reggae adaptations. Derajah follows with masterful roots vocals that bring the second riddim to full expression.
ONE DROP REBELS IS UNFILTERED AND FULL OF HEART
Jah Thunder, a close ally of Capleton and part of the David House family, rides a bold, modern instrumental with sharp, high-voltage delivery. The album also features commanding contributions from Skeleton Blazer, Zion Head, Sugardaddy, Daniel Bless, Symbioz, and other trusted collaborators from the Spirit Revolution circle.
Unfiltered and full of heart, One Drop Rebels is a rhythmic postcard from Jamaica. Miss it, and you’re missing the vibe.
