REGGAE WITHOUT BORDERS: NAYA ROCKERS BUILD BRIDGES ON HIGHER EDUCATION
In Kingston’s Alpha School of Music, young musicians have been refining their craft for generations, learning the heartbeat of reggae. That energy sparked a daring idea: could artists across the globe come together to preserve that legacy? The answer is Higher Education, an 11-track benefit LP arriving from Naya Rockers and Floki Studios.
The scope of Higher Education is global. Recorded across 15 studios in five countries and featuring Grammy-winning artists, engineers, and musicians, the album arrives on 12 September 2025. Its mission is clear: support youth music education at Alpha School.
HIGHER EDUCATION IS BOTH A CULTURAL STATEMENT AND A BENEFIT ALBUM MADE WITH PURPOSE
Earl “Chinna” Smith, listed by Rolling Stone among the 250 Greatest Guitarists, appears alongside members of The Skatalites, John Brown’s Body, and Slightly Stoopid. This cross-generational lineup underscores the project’s vision of reggae as both tradition and evolution.
Mixed by Stephen Stewart and Naya Rockers founder Nathan Sabanayagam at Kingston’s Tuff Gong and Anchor Studios, Higher Education represents music made with soul, precision and purpose. It is a benefit album, but also a cultural milestone built on collaboration and community.
