Jamaican roots reggae artist Micah Shemaiah has crafted something truly special. His compelling album Natural Is the Mystic arrives via Dutch label JahSolidRock Music, recorded at Kingston’s legendary Tuff Gong studio.
This 10-track collection is a rockers and roots lover’s dream. Live instrumentation brings authenticity to every groove. The album features Kirk “Kirkledove” Bennett on drums, Hector “Roots” Lewis on percussion, and the incomparable Dean Fraser on saxophone.
Previously released tracks like When Yuh Right and Not For Sale sit beside fresh material. Geoffrey Chung’s original riddim Dubbing Is A Must appears here. Other tracks nod to classics, with loose interpretations of Bunny Wailer’s Rastaman.

The musicianship is exceptional. Jason Welsh handles bass while Garth “Duckie” Forester brings his Alborosie-honed guitar skills. Andrew “Stringy” Marsh adds piano and Hammond organ textures. Backing vocals come from the late Dalton Browne and Telford Nelson of Culture.
