FULLNESS: MARCUS I, ADUBTA & THE BLACK OAK ROOTS ALLSTARS DEBUT LP

The best collaborations sound like they could only ever have happened one way. Fullness, the debut long-player from singer Marcus I, producer aDUBta, and The Black Oak Roots Allstars, released on F-Spot Records, is exactly that: unhurried, deliberate, and deeply alive.

The sound rests on authentic foundations. Real drums swing with ease, the bass moves like a slow tide, warm analogue textures fill the air, and guitar cuts clean through the mix. The album travels between early reggae, rocksteady, and roots, stretching at times into dub and echo. Everything flows.

Marcus I’s voice carries the record well. Great roots vocalists are clearly in his bloodstream, and he wears those influences with ease, staying grounded in his own experience. His delivery sits perfectly inside aDUBta’s spacious production, each giving the other room to shine.

MADE BY PEOPLE WHO TRUST EACH OTHER, AND IT SHOWS IN EVERY BAR

The album shifts mood with confidence. Upful opens wide with bright, sunny groove. Mr. Bossman swings with a wry grin. Your Love digs deeper, rich and soulful, while Upon The Roof rounds things out in deep reflection.

The title says exactly what it means. Fullness is music made by people who trust each other, and it shows in every bar.

ABOUT MARCUS I

Fullness: Marcus I, aDUBta & The Black Oak Roots Allstars debut LP. Reggae Tastemaker

Marc Ibarz channels the spirit of 70s Jamaica through a distinctly European lens. Recording as Marcus I, he builds his music on conscious lyrics, spiritual themes, and analogue warmth.

His 2017 debut Inner Calling, recorded with The TucXone Army, was praised for its vintage roots feel. A committed collaborator, he keeps the live-band tradition very much alive.

ABOUT ADUBTA

Fullness: Marcus I, aDUBta & The Black Oak Roots Allstars debut LP. Reggae Tastemaker

A Bavarian drummer-turned-producer, aDUBta spent nearly two decades playing live before the desk called. His breakthrough, Sounds From the Attic (2023), recorded entirely on a vintage Tascam 388 tape console and featuring reggae veterans Ranking Joe and Cedric Myton, announced a producer with deep roots and serious analogue convictions. His creative partnership with Marcus I continues that tradition, track by track.
