MARCUS I MEETS ADUBTA & THE BLACK OAK ROOTS ALLSTARS ON ROCKSTEADY ‘TASTE OF LOVE’
When Marcus I stepped into aDUBta’s Attic Roots Studio before catching a train back to France, he carried a last-minute lyric that would soon become Taste of Love. What began as a simple guitar phrase evolved into a wistful rocksteady gem recorded with the Black Oak Roots Allstars beside Lake Ammersee.
The track captures a delicate nostalgia for love lost, wrapped in a warmth that nods to Jamaica’s golden era. Marcus I’s vocals ache with tenderness, while aDUBta’s production blends rhythm and restraint.
The song’s heartbeat comes from King HuHa’s shimmering guitar, Jannis Skankin’ Klenk Klenke’s steady bass, and aDUBta’s soulful keys and drums.
THE TRACK CAPTURES A DELICATE NOSTALGIA FOR LOVE LOST
Pressed on random coloured vinyl, each edition of Taste of Love comes with unique liner notes and a story that feels handcrafted. The digital release goes further, offering an extra dub cut titled Dub of Love, a heady version that deepens the emotion through echo and space.
For Marcus I, originally from Cantabria and now rooted in France, it marks another chapter in his journey through Europe’s reggae landscape. For aDUBta and the Black Oak Roots Allstars, it’s proof of their devotion to the authentic Jamaican sound.
Nearly two years after that fleeting studio session, their collaboration arrives with timeless grace and undeniable heart. As King HuHa said from the start, “This one’s a hit.”
