LONGTIME WARRIOR: A STIRRING ROOTS SALUTE FROM MARCUS I AND ADUBTA
Marcus I and aDUBta return with Longtime Warrior, a heavyweight new cut that hits hard with early reggae grit and heartfelt purpose. Available digitally and pressed to 7-inch vinyl—with a dubwise version on the flip—this track features the Black Oak Roots Allstars, a rotating collective of skilled players bringing serious fire for the roots faithful.
Composer Andreas Bauer, better known as aDUBta, brings over 20 years of production experience to the table. He has collaborated with Oneness Records and legends such as Cedric Myton and Vin Gordon.
His analogue-rich sound blends effortlessly with the distinctive vocals and lyrical focus of Marcus I, the Spain-born, France-based artist who penned the lyrics under his full name, Marc Ibarz Ferrer.
ROOTS REGGAE STILL WALKS PROUD, BOOTS PLANTED FIRM IN SOUND SYSTEM SOIL
Inspired by a real-life reunion with his first ska bandmate, Juanra Gómez, Marcus I crafted the track as a salute to those who’ve held the line. With boots, shaved heads and principles intact, these longtime warriors stand tall. So does this tune.
Tough, melodic and full of soul, Longtime Warrior is more than a nod to the past. It’s a reminder that roots reggae still walks proud, boots planted firm in sound system soil.
