Lila Iké and Joey Bada$$ bring undeniable heat in their soulful new track, Fry Plantain. With its release through Wurl Iké Records and In.Digg.Nation Collective under Ineffable Records, this dynamic collab is as warm and inviting as the dish it celebrates.

In the accompanying video, directed by DJUvii, Lila creates a world where food meets intimacy. Set in a simple kitchen with just salt, oil, and plantains, the visuals capture tender moments between the singer and her co-star, Joey Bada$$.

LILA IKÉ SERVES AN AUTHENTIC SLICE OF JAMAICAN CULTURE—SOULFUL, DELICIOUS, AND UNFORGETTABLE

Joey complements the narrative with an understated charm by reprising his role from Lila’s He Loves Us Both video featuring H.E.R. Their onscreen chemistry is magnetic, transitioning seamlessly from cosy culinary scenes to an idyllic island road trip, ending riverside with vibrant Caribbean cuisine.

Behind the music, is DK the Punisher, who has collaborated with Anderson .Paak and Jill Scott lends his signature production, enhanced by Protoje’s touch. Together, they deliver a track that’s equal parts groove and heart.

Lila’s lyrics go beyond plantains, singing of breadfruit, ackee, and more, showcasing her love for Jamaican culture. This track is a savoury teaser for her debut album, expected in 2025, including her 2024 hits Mama’s Smile and He Loves Us Both.

With Fry Plantain, Lila Iké serves music with an authentic slice of home. It’s soulful, delicious, and worth savouring.
