Kingston Sound System breathes new life into The B-52’s classic ‘Love Shack’. Reggae Tastemaker

KINGSTON SOUND SYSTEM BREATHES NEW LIFE INTO THE B-52’S CLASSIC ‘LOVE SHACK’

Somewhere between the backstreets of Kingston and the deep-space kitsch of 1989, the Love Shack still pulses. But this time, it’s riding basslines that shake your ribcage and brass so bold it sounds like it’s shining. Kingston Sound System, a shape-shifting collective of reggae heavyweights, have pulled The B-52’s’ oddball anthem into their world.

Fred Schneider and Kate Pierson’s original vocals still twist and shout, but now they float over thick grooves, dub echoes, and horns that feel sun-scorched and defiant.

ORIGINAL VOCALS TWIST AND SHOUT OVER THICK GROOVES, DUB ECHOES AND HORNS

Cut live in Jamaica, every note moves with grit and intention. There are no AI recording tricks, no polish—just seasoned players laying it down raw.

Helmed by the Berman Brothers (Rhythms del Mundo, Who Let the Dogs Out), Classic Hits In A Reggae Groove lands on 18 June 2025.

Expect fearless versions of Smalltown Boy, Heart of Glass, and more—reworked with heavy rhythm, serious feel, and zero compromise.

Forget the dancefloor. This is beach bonfire energy.

ABOUT THE B-52S

Kingston Sound System breathes new life into The B-52’s classic ‘Love Shack’. Reggae Tastemaker

From Georgia, USA, to global cult status, the B-52s built a world all their own. Blending new wave, punk, and surreal pop, they sparked a movement with Rock Lobster, Private Idaho, and Love Shack. Their sound was wild, their vision sharper.

After tragedy, they roared back with Cosmic Thing, turning eccentricity into multi-platinum success. Collaborations with David Byrne, R.E.M., and Iggy Pop pushed boundaries further.

Decades on, their influence still buzzes through every outsider anthem that dares to dance.
