THE SALMON DROPS NEW SINGLE “CHOICES” WITH REGGAE LEGEND SLY DUNBAR
Get ready for some soulful vibes from reggae trio The Salmon. The trio, featuring Kiddus I, Bazbaz, and Tchiky, just released their brand new single, “Choices.” This track is a taste of what’s to come from their upcoming self-titled album, a reggae, soul, blues, and country fusion.
“Choices” is a reggae gem with a surprising folk twist. It features the legendary Sly Dunbar on drums, one half of the iconic duo Sly & Robbie.
During the recording in Kingston, Sly told Bazbaz that the song reminded him of Serge Gainsbourg, the French singer he collaborated with on the cult classic album “aux armes et caetera” in 1979.
With his signature haunting vocals, reggae legend Kiddus I takes centre stage in “Choices.” The song explores a familiar theme for Kiddus I: the choices we make in life and the consequences, sometimes unexpected, that follow.
Catch the band performing live on 22 November 2024 at Café de la Danse in Paris, France.
ABOUT KIDDUS I
Reggae singer Kiddus I, born Frank Dowding in Jamaica, came from a middle-class background. He initially embraced a hippie lifestyle before converting to Rastafari.
In the early 1970s, he opened an Ital food store in Kingston, attracting musicians like Gregory Isaacs and Third World. Isaacs encouraged him to pursue a music career, and he recorded with Joel Gibson and joined Ras Michael and the Sons of Negus. His song “Graduation in Zion” gained fame in the film Rockers.
After releasing several singles, he re-emerged in 2005 with the acoustic album “Inna De Yard” and later “Green Fa Life” in 2009.
