CLASSIC REIMAGINED: JANEEL MILLS DROPS NEW SINGLE “JOHNNY”
Jamaican songstress Janeel Mills has releases, “Johnny.” The track, produced by Makiri Whyte, is a cover of the 2007 hit single “Valerie,” but Mills puts her own spin on it by dedicating the song to a special man in her life.
The music video, directed by Ifidel Williams, features gorgeous photography and showcases Janeel reminiscing about all the good times with her lover, interspersed with solo performances of the track.
Originally recorded by the English Indie Rock Band The Zutons in 2006, “Valerie” was famously covered by Amy Winehouse in 2007 as a collaboration with Producer Mark Ronson. The song went on to become a triple-platinum hit.
But Mills takes the classic tune and gives it a fresh reggae feel, turning the pop/jazz sound on its head. Trust us, “Johnny” is the perfect track to add to your playlist and vibe!
