JAHBRADEZ SHARES AN ANTHEM OF AWAKENING, ‘WE ARE BLACK’
JahBradez’s fourth single, We Are Black, finds its origins in an unexpected moment of inspiration. The song first took shape two years ago in Rhode Island, where a spontaneous chord progression struck him deeply.
In that moment at Rhode Island, as he hummed fresh melodies and lyrical fragments, the seeds of We Are Black were planted. This introspective journey would take time to fully bloom.
Months later, JahBradez was compelled to finish the song, as his high school memories of skewed history lessons surfaced. Reflecting on how misleading narratives shaped his sense of identity, he crafted lyrics exploring these distorted histories, examining the roots of identity and resilience in Black communities.
The single’s artwork reflects this message just as powerfully. At its centre, a newborn radiates within a circle of positive affirmations, echoing a mother’s love and hope.
Moving outward, the words shift into the harsh messages society often imposes. This stark contrast captures the tension between an individual’s potential and the weight of social expectations.
With We Are Black, JahBradez meditates on self-worth, resilience, and the journey toward a truer sense of identity. Through every beat, he urges us to look beyond the surface and connect with our roots.
