DANCEHALL ICON GYPTIAN TURNS UP THE HEAT WITH SMOULDERING ‘WHEN I CALL’

Dancehall’s most devoted romantic is back. Gyptian has returned with When I Call, a sultry, irresistible cut riding the Tropi Riddim and produced by two-time Grammy-nominated producer IamWav. Released via VPAL Music, it arrives with a slick official video directed by Dry Did Dat Ish, and it feels every inch the lover’s anthem.

The track does exactly what Gyptian does best. His warm, melodic delivery floats over a flirty, hip-swaying groove that pulls you in from the first bar.

Billboard once observed that he has been “cranking out love and lust-minded dancehall classics for years now,” and When I Call confirms he remains at the very top of his game.

GYPTIAN CONTINUES TO MAKE IT LOOK EFFORTLESS

Gyptian has kept himself firmly on the global stage. He lit up Dubai’s Carnival Weekend in 2025, performing crowd favourites Hold Yuh and Wine Slow to a rapturous audience.

Next up, he heads to the UK for City Splash 2026 on 25 May, joining a stellar lineup that includes Beres Hammond, Jada Kingdom, and Queen Ifrica.

Romance, rhythm, and real stage presence. Gyptian continues to make them look effortless, and When I Call is worth answering.

Born in rural St. Andrew, Gyptian emerged in the mid-2000s with a velvet tone and quiet assurance. Early singles put him on the Jamaican charts. Then Hold Yuh changed everything.

His catalogue spans roots reggae, lovers rock, and dancehall. The 2010 crossover climbed the Billboard Hot 100, earned a MOBO Award, and went Double Platinum in the UK.
