GYPTIAN SHARES HIS SOUL ON EP ‘GUARDED’
Reggae and dancehall superstar Gyptian has released a new EP, “Guarded”. Collaborating with producer Chambah, the seven-track project reveals his vulnerable side. The songs explore his journey through stardom, the pressures from friends and family, and his own personal struggles.
“Guarded” follows the success of Gyptian and Chambah’s first collaborative effort, “The Difference”, released in 2020. That project included the hit single “Come Over” featuring Tommy Lee Sparta.
Chambah describes their latest work as a step forward, blending authentic reggae with modern production. The EP has something old and new for all of Gyptian’s fans.
Gyptian first made a global impact in 2010 with hits like “Hold You,” the roots single “Serious Times,” and the contemporary reggae ballad “Beautiful Lady.” These tracks showcased his versatility as an artist.
Two decades into his career, he continues to innovate, blending classic roots reggae with dancehall and international sounds.
ABOUT GYPTIAN
Gyptian grew up singing in church and listening to his dad’s music. He came from rural Jamaica and moved to Portmore to pursue his music dream. His first hit, “Serious Times,” was a roots reggae song about peace.
Gyptian refused to sing about violence. His albums mixed roots, R&B, and pop. Hits like “Hold You” made him a global star.
