UNVEILING ‘DUB ROCK’, GROUNDATION’S SONIC JOURNEY
Groundation, the California and Jamaica-based band, is set to captivate reggae enthusiasts once again with the release of ‘Dub Rock’. This album, a follow-up to their 2022 masterpiece, ‘One Rock’, digs even deeper into the rich sonic landscape explored in the previous album.
At the helm of this musical voyage is the legendary engineer Jim Fox, known for his work at the famed Lion & Fox Studios. Fox’s artistry lies in his ability to dissect and reimagine existing compositions. He extracts hidden gems from the original tracks with surgical precision, creating dynamic and subtle arrangements.
One standout gem is the track ‘Ancient Form’, a collaboration featuring the iconic voices of Israel Vibration and The Abyssinians.
Fox’s toolkit includes reverbs and delays, which he deftly employs to highlight Groundation’s classic and unique instrumentation.
Picture a string trio weaving intricate melodies alongside 12 lead vocalists. Among them is Groundation’s charismatic frontman, Harrison Stafford, whose energy infuses every note. But it doesn’t stop there—the unmistakable voices of Israel Vibration and The Abyssinians, along with The Congos, add layers of authenticity.
Prepare your ears for a truly groundbreaking experience. ‘Dub Rock’ offers one of reggae’s first-ever Dolby Atmos mixes. This cutting-edge surround sound technology envelops listeners in a three-dimensional sonic embrace, a sonic experience that will leave you in awe. It’s reggae like you’ve never heard before—a journey through space and rhythm.
