ROOTS, RESISTANCE & RADIANCE: GENERAL HUGE’S BEAUTIFUL DAY EP
French reggae artist and producer General Huge returns with Beautiful Day, a fresh four-track EP released via the Beijing-based ChinaMan Yard label. It fuses roots reggae, dancehall fire and conscious lyricism into something vital and alive.
Featuring an international cast of collaborators, the project explores themes of unity, spirituality, social awareness, positivity and love through a modern reggae sound.
Each track on the EP carries its own power. Lighters Up with Perfect Giddimani opens like a rallying cry, channelling spiritual elevation and defiant energy. On Justice, Natty Banton cuts deep into inequality, false democracy and social hypocrisy with unflinching clarity.
ROOTS, FIRE, CONSCIENCE: GENERAL HUGE DELIVERS ON EVERY COUNT
Skarra Mucci brings warmth and joy to Beautiful Day, a sun-drenched tribute to Jamaican culture and friendship. Closing things out on Feelings, Zulu Bob weaves soulful reflections on healing and human connection. Riddims crafted by Zhang Dr Riddim Qian and Vlad Lionsriddim Sfichi add a rich, purposeful foundation.

General Huge goes further than the music, too. Alongside the EP, he unveils a hand-drawn animated short film inspired by Beautiful Day. A monochrome character escapes into a vivid Jamaican world through the power of reggae.
The result is tender, human and warmly tactile. This is reggae with plenty to say.
