ETANA REVIVES REGGAE RIDDIM CULTURE WITH “FREEMIND RIDDIM”

Etana and Freemind Music Records have joined forces to create the exciting new “Freemind Riddim.” Since founding Freemind Music in 2005, Etana has been crafting her own unique sound. Her debut singles, “Wrong Address” and “Roots,” showcase her incredible talent and passion for music.

After leaving VP Records, Etana transitioned to full-scale music production. She achieved Grammy success with two self-produced albums: “Reggae Forever,” distributed by Tad’s Records, and “Pamoja,” distributed by Freemind Music Records.

The “Freemind Riddim” project taps into the reggae riddim juggling style popularised in the late 1990s and early 2000s. This style popularised many staple reggae hits that are still relevant today, such as Richie Spice’s “Earth a Run Red” and Morgan Heritage’s “Down by the River.”

FREEMIND RIDDIM TAPS INTO THE LATE ‘90S AND EARLY 2000S RIDDIM JUGGLING STYLE

Etana explains, “I feel like we in the music industry forgot how important juggling was to the culture. The reggae riddims unearthed multiple messages and interpretations of several artists on one instrumental track. It’s a part of the culture that began long before I was born, and it was rich and thriving. A lot of conscious music came from the juggling, and I wanted to bring us back to that energy and vibration.”

The “Freemind Riddim” features 12 tracks from a star-studded lineup, including Yahsha, Lutan Fyah and Etana herself, I-Octane, Richie Spice, Warrior King, Ginjah, Jah Sun, Lawgiver, Samini, Greg Gutty, and I-Noah.

“Freemind Riddim” promises to reignite the vibrant energy of classic reggae riddims.
