BASSLINES AND BENEDICTIONS: EARL 16 & CULTURE WARRIORS ‘JAH DISCIPLES’ IS MIDNIGHT FIRE

There’s a charge in the air, like concrete soaked in dub and incense. Earl 16 and The Disciples step into that space with Jah Disciples, a roots-heavy offering built for both the sound system and the soul. Released via Evidence Music, this one rumbles with purpose.

Cultural Warriors shape the riddim like iron—fast, thick, drum-driven. The Disciples inject weight, layering bass and echo like a sermon in smoke. Earl 16 doesn’t drift; he locks in. His voice carries conviction, guiding the rhythm with chants of truth, light, and leadership.

JAH DISCIPLES KEEPS PULLING FORWARD, BUT THE MESSAGE LINGERS

Every lyric moves with intent. A call to speak clearly, live rightly, and show the youth how to stand tall. The groove keeps pulling forward, but the message lingers.

This is no polished gloss. Jah Disciples rolls like a late-night dubplate spun with grit, reverence, and fire. One spin in, and you’re already marching.

The Disciples have shaped the sound of UK dub since the mid-’80s, emerging under the wing of Jah Shaka. Founded by Russ D and his brother Loi, their early albums dropped heavy rhythms on Shaka’s label.

By 1991, they built their own sound system and launched Boom-Shacka-Lacka. In 1996, Backyard Movements followed, pushing reggae, jungle, techno, and beyond.

With decades of deep cuts and collabs, The Disciples remain pillars of underground dub culture.
