DUTTY ROCK STRIKES GOLD WITH DESERT-FLAVOURED DANCEHALL DROP
Smoke and sand swirl through the Moroccan Gold Riddim, a hypnotic juggling from Dutty Rock Productions where dancehall collides with Middle Eastern textures. From the first smoky bars, the riddim unfolds with cinematic tension, its desert-inspired melodies weaving seamlessly into bass-heavy dancehall grit.
Sean Paul’s powerhouse camp, formed in 2011 with Jigzagula, News, CopperShaun, and Suku Ward, has long balanced tradition and innovation. Moroccan Gold pushes that legacy further.
“The sample we used has a Moroccan, Middle Eastern feel – that’s what inspired the name,” explained News, the label’s manager. He compared the project’s richness to Moroccan oil, precious gold jewellery and rare cannabis strains native to the region.
But the riddim stays firmly rooted in Jamaican culture. “Anything Dutty Rock does, we try to keep it dancehall-oriented. This riddim just adds a new texture to that,” News said.
