DMac Burns delivers a powerful new single, ‘Breakdown’. Reggae Tastemaker

DMAC BURNS DELIVERS A POWERFUL ‘BREAKDOWN’

DMac Burns has crafted an exciting single, ‘Breakdown,’ blending reggae with a rocksteady vibe and old-school R&B harmonies. An intriguing detuned lead guitar adds a Lofi indie touch, creating a unique soundscape.

The song explores the heavy concept of emotional scapegoating—where one person’s unresolved pain is unfairly placed on another. Burns explains that this leads to a mental breakdown for all involved, mirroring the chaos we often see in both personal relationships and society.

THIS THOUGHT-PROVOKING TRACK WILL RESONATE WITH ANYONE NAVIGATING STRUGGLES

The track’s layered sound comes from a global collaboration. Burns, an Irish-based New Yorker, worked alongside longtime bandmates Danny McDonald, Matías Saldivia, Rocky Russo, Seth Nicholson, and Glik. Adding a rich brass section, Brazilian musicians Paulo de Viveiro, Marcelo Freitas, and Javier Gomes bring the trumpet, saxophone, and trombone to life.

Recorded across New York, Cork, Buenos Aires, and São Paulo, Breakdown was mixed by Victor Rice, ensuring a polished yet raw feel. This thought-provoking track will resonate with anyone navigating personal or societal struggles.
