GOING HOME: CLIVE MATTHEWS AND LONE ARK CHANNEL THE SPIRIT OF CLASSIC ROOTS
On Going Home, Clive Matthews joins forces with Lone Ark’s Roberto Sánchez to craft a powerful roots statement, featuring ten tracks soaked in Rastafari spirit and analogue warmth. From the opening title track, the album immerses listeners in the warm, analogue wash of vintage Jamaican roots—unhurried, textured and full of purpose.
Released on A-Lone / Evidence Music, the album sees Matthews’s voice carry quiet authority throughout. The title track opens with a steady, meditative rhythm that frames his voice as both anchor and guide. From there, the record moves gracefully between scripture-laced meditations and rhythm-driven teachings.
Sermon on the Mount stands tall with its vivid horn arrangements and clear lyrical intent, while Live Not for Vanity Pt. 2 brings a seasoned sense of reflection.
SÁNCHEZ’S INTUITIVE PRODUCTION CAPTURES THE GRAIN AND GROOVE OF ’70s ROOTS
What holds it all together is Sánchez’s intuitive production. He captures the grain and groove of ’70s roots, but never resorts to pastiche. The live instrumentation breathes, the dub echoes land with meaning, and Matthews’s delivery remains focused and sincere.
Going Home walks the line between the dance floor and devotion. This is roots reggae as it should be: spiritual, grounded and alive with conviction.

ABOUT LONE ARK

In a modest corner of Santander, Roberto Sánchez, aka Lone Ark, has crafted a singular legacy in roots reggae production. From the 1990s onward, his trajectory has been marked by precision, reverence, and sonic depth.
At his A-Lone Ark Muzik Studio, tape machines hum and vintage preamps glow as he channels the militant pulse of Channel One and the spectral haze of Black Ark.
Collaborators span generations, from Alpheus to Earl Sixteen, yet his imprint always feels intimate, timeless and unmistakably his.
