STING IN THE GROOVE: CHEZIDEK RECHARGES A ROOTS CLASSIC
Chezidek teams up with Irie Ites for Wasp Nest, a searing roots reggae rework of Max Romeo’s One Step Forward riddim. First recorded in 1975 by Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, the instrumental now hums with fresh fire, thanks to Chezidek’s commanding voice and The Ligerians’ thunderous live rhythm section.
The bassline, thick and hypnotic, anchors the track like concrete in water. Mixed by Roberto Sánchez and arranged by Manuel Malhoeuvre, Wasp Nest nods to the past, while surging forward with purpose.
Every element hits with intent, from the crisp drum work to the dub version’s spiralling echoes.
ROOTS REGGAE DOESN’T GET MORE URGENT THAN THIS
Released on Irie Ites International and distributed by Evidence Music, this is no polite homage. It’s a powerful, full-bodied statement. Turn it up, feel the sting, and let the neighbours wonder what’s coming through the walls. Roots reggae doesn’t get more urgent than this.
ABOUT CHEZIDEK

Chezidek channels the fire of Rastafari into roots reggae that uplifts, resists and reverberates. Since Harvest Time dropped in the early 2000s, his voice has carried messages of justice and renewal. Leave De Trees turned heads, but he kept moving forward, recording fourteen albums, including Never Stop on Irie Ites.
Across vocals and dubs, with guests like Queen Omega and King Lorenzo, Chezidek blends militancy with meditation. His catalogue pulses with purpose, community and sonic depth.
