Roots warrior Chezidek confronts Senate’s broken promise on Caah Believe. Reggae Tastemaker

ROOTS ARTIST CHEZIDEK CONFRONTS BROKEN PROMISE ON ‘CAAH BELIEVE’

Conscious roots reggae singer Chezidek channels moral fire on Caah Believe, his searing response to a broken promise. Jamaica’s Senate took the first steps toward ganja decriminalisation in 2015, but a decade later, users still face persecution.

Released via Tad’s International Record, the track centres on a St. Elizabeth resident targeted by authorities. This rural southern parish grows Jamaica’s finest ganja, yet officers still pursue its farmers and users. Producer Tad Dawkins Jr. frames Chezidek’s impassioned vocals with a roots-heavy riddim that cuts deep.

A ROOTS-HEAVY RIDDIM CUTS DEEP, DRIVEN BY REGGAE’S FINEST MUSICIANS

Tad’s All Stars deliver instrumental fire here. Bass heavyweight Donald “Danny Bassie” Dennis anchors the groove. Kirk Bennett’s drums pulse with urgency. Guitar work by Mitchum Khan intertwines with piano and organ by Franklyn “Bubbla” Waul and Carol “Bowie” McLaughlin.

The horn section brings brassy defiance: Dean Fraser, Okeil McIntyre, Everton Pessoa and Randy Fletcher.

Caah Believe previews Marijuana Prayer, Chezidek’s forthcoming album arriving in late May 2026. A decade after decriminalisation began, Jamaica’s ganja community continues its fight. This powerful track sounds that alarm.
