Celebrating Jamaica 63 marks independence with deep cuts from The Paragons to Anthony B. Reggae Tastemaker

CELEBRATING JAMAICA 63 MARKS INDEPENDENCE WITH DEEP CUTS FROM THE PARAGONS TO ANTHONY B

Released in time for Jamaican Independence Day on Tad’s Record, Celebrating Jamaica 63 brings together voices across generations. Co-produced by Tad Dawkins and Tad “TJ” Dawkins Jr, the 16-track set blends classic covers with fresh material.

The Mighty Diamonds link with Josey Wales and Singer J on a hard-edged version of I Need A Roof. Jesse Royal refreshes The Paragons’ The Tide is High with bright tone and bounce. Sophia Squier cuts clean through Hello Carol, originally by The Gladiators, while Leroy Sibbles reshapes The Heptones’ Party Time without softening its core.

Originals sit firmly alongside the covers. Anthony B’s Reggae Gone Pon Top rides with pace and clarity. Dean Fraser and Okeil McIntyre’s Riot locks into brass-led tension that holds from start to end.

Glen Washington and Sanchez deliver with control and weight. The sequencing works. Shifts between old and new feel sharp, not forced. Each track earns its place.

Celebrating Jamaica 63 focuses on sound, not sentiment. It highlights voices still pushing forward, still connected to the roots, still loud in the mix.
