Reggae royalty Aswad has just dropped their highly anticipated live album, “Live In London.” This release marks the legendary British group’s first feature in over a decade, heralding a new era in their storied career.

Recorded at London’s iconic Jazz Cafe, this album is a powerful tribute to the late Angus “Drummie Zeb” Gaye. It reflects his spirit and dedication to music. Principal members Tony Gad and Soloman passionately produced the album, capturing the true essence of the British-born reggae movement.

Aswad emerged from Ladbroke Grove, West London, in 1974, blending reggae with R&B and soul. Founded by Angus “Drummie Zeb” Gaye, Brinsley Forde, and Tony “Gad” Robinson, the trio became pioneers of Caribbean music in Britain. Their groundbreaking sound garnered Grammy nominations and a MOBO Award for ‘Outstanding Contribution To Black Music.’

Over their illustrious career, the band released 21 albums, with hits like “Don’t Turn Around” (1988) and “Shine” (1994). In 1996, Brinsley Forde left the band, but Gaye and Robinson continued as a duo, maintaining their unique sound.

The passing of Angus “Drummie Zeb” Gaye in 2022 left Tony “Gad” Robinson as the sole torchbearer of Aswad’s legacy. Through triumphs and challenges, Aswad’s music continues to inspire, transcending boundaries with their universal rhythm and melody.
