ALEIGHCIA SCOTT BRINGS REGGAE FIRE TO THE VOICE IN WALES

Aleighcia Scott is about to make history. The Cardiff-born reggae singer-songwriter is stepping into a new role as a coach on Y Llais, the Welsh-language edition of The Voice. Airing on S4C, the show premieres Sunday, 9 February, at 8 PM GMT.

Scott joins an eclectic panel of coaches—Bronwen Lewis, Bryn Terfel, and Yws Gwynedd—as they each build a team of rising stars. “I’m excited to be part of what seems like to me a new wave of Welsh language music,” she told The Guardian.

It’s a bold move, especially since she’s only been learning Welsh for three years. But that hasn’t stopped her from diving in.

Aleighcia’s also set to drop her first Welsh-language track, Dod O’r Galon (From the Heart), on 21 March this year. Produced by Pen Dub, a North Wales beatsmith blending reggae, dub, and steppers rhythms, the single fuses Jamaican roots with Welsh soul.

Releasing via Recordiau Côsh Records, the track features Aleighcia’s rich vocals alongside a rich collaboration between Jamaican and Welsh musicians.

Adding to the momentum, she’s sitting in for David Rodigan for three weeks, starting this Sunday on BBC Radio 1Xtra at 1 PM GMT.

Aleighcia Scott’s journey proves that reggae knows no borders. As her star rises, she mentors future talent and delivers heartfelt sounds, creating a harmonious space where cultures unite.
