After his silky-smooth vocal feature on Eva Lazarus’ Light As Feather, it was inevitable that Mungo’s Hi Fi would pursue an EP project with London-based pure sing-jay Kiko Bun.
The title track, Riddim General, is a heavily requested vocal cut from Mungo’s popular Antidote Dub album. Its early dancehall deejay delivery, autobiographical lyrics, and mesmerizing minor key rub-a-dub rhythm make it a sure-fire sound system party favorite.
Kiko also showcases his abilities as a romantic singer on Ms. Burnett, whose dreamy major key backing could have come out of Jamaica’s Channel One studio in its glory days.
Mungo’s authentic vintage-meets-modern production and Kiko Bun’s effortless-sounding versatility combine across four tracks, including the dubs that will nice up any dance.
