KHALIA RELEASES DEBUT EP “STAY TRUE” PRODUCED BY GRAMMY WINNER
Jamaican/UK’s rising reggae star, Khalia, has just released her debut EP titled “Stay True”. The EP is executive produced by Tony “CD” Kelly, a Grammy award-winning producer.
“Stay True” showcases Khalia’s versatility and songwriting skills as she tackles various social issues with Tanya Stephens on “No Answer”, serenades a lover on “Waiting For You“, trades barbs with Shaggy on “Double Trouble”, and reflects on her inner circle on the EP’s title track.
The heartfelt focus track “Things and Time” features Mortimer and is a tender declaration of love and devotion.
“This EP is all about exploring the different sides of me as an artist. The music that inspired me was not one-dimensional, as I fell in love with many genres, such as reggae, dancehall, grime, R&B, and gospel. However, ultimately, reggae is my home, and this body of work stays true to my reggae roots.
The lyrics and topics are based on my own life experiences, and each song has its special place in my heart. Titled ‘Stay True’ from one of the songs on the EP, it also has a strong meaning to me. It represents the battle between what the world wants me to be and who I truly am. I choose to stay true to myself, even though it may not be the easiest thing to do.”
