REGGAE ROAST COLLABORATES WITH DANCEHALL STAR GAPPY RANKS WITH ‘MY SELECTA’
Reggae Roast is back with a bang, teaming up with one of the UK’s top Dancehall performers, Gappy Ranks, for their latest single, “My Selecta.” The track is part of Reggae Roast’s upcoming LP, “More Fire!,” which features a host of world-renowned artists, including Horace Andy, Johnny Clarke, Mr. Williamz, and Soom T.
Gappy Ranks is no stranger to the music scene, having worked with the likes of Shy FX and amassing tens of millions of streams. “My Selecta” tells the story of Gappy’s musical journey, from growing up in West London to becoming the Dancehall star he is today.
Reggae Roast’s hard-hitting riddim is a revamped version of the classic Rocksteady track, “Midnight Hour” by the Silvertones from Trojan Records. The track features modern production techniques, a heavier dancehall baseline, and live Sax from UB40’s sax player, Adriano Rossetti. The result is a classic Reggae/Dancehall crossover track that’s sure to get your feet moving.
Reggae Roast is a leading Soundsystem and production outfit in the UK. They’ve performed at major festivals such as Glastonbury, Outlook, and Boomtown, and have toured with UB40 and Alborosie. ABOUT GAPPY RANKS
Gappy Ranks, a British-Jamaican reggae artist, overcame homelessness to pursue a career in music. He started with Suncycle before embarking on a solo career in 2004. He signed with Greensleeves Records in 2010 and released his debut album Put the Stereo On. Ranks has toured extensively and collaborated with various artists, including Beres Hammond and P-Money. He has also produced for other artists through his Hot Coffee Music label.
