TESHAY MAKEDA EP release ‘Omega Mother Goddess’
‘Omega Mother Goddess’ is an exploration of the roots and soul of the Divine Feminine. Through a colourful combination of polyphonic tunes and warm, Jamaican-inspired beats, Teshay Makeda guides her listeners into a dynamic, spiritual soundscape. “My music is for people to connect with and understand themselves through, to be in their purpose, and be the best person they can be”.
Teshay Makeda created an EP after a transformative trip to Ethiopia, which inspired the lyrics for her music. The song “Haile” is a love song that draws inspiration from the last emperor of Ethiopia, Haile Selassie, and his marriage to Empress Menen. It combines reggae rhythms with R&B sensuality to create a melodious blend that speaks to shared black love.
In “Jah Knows,” we hear a melancholic sound that depicts a journey towards trust in the divine while embodying a steady beat of vulnerable yet vibrant energy. “MessenJah” is an upbeat dance track that empowers and encourages listeners to remember their sovereignty.
The EP features Teshay Makeda‘s sonorous voice on top of electronic beats in “Womb Love,” which she describes as “an ancestral, digital download from my womb sacred space to all the women in the world to heal and unite.”
Teshay Makeda‘s band, “The RootSouJah’s,” is also featured on the EP. She worked closely with skilled musician and co-producer James Shephard on the project, while Calvin “First Eye” Bennion co-produced several tracks.
The EP was completed with the help of renowned engineer Bobbi Zion and Grammy award-winning engineer Gary Noble, who brought their sonic synergy to “Omega Mother Goddess.”
