JAH LIGHT, WINSTON MCANUFF, AND ASKO DIBANKO SHINE IN ‘DON’T PUT JAH LIGHT IN THE DARK’
Reggae powerhouses Jah Light, Winston McAnuff, and Asko Dibanko have joined forces for a potent single, ‘Don’t Put Jah Light in the Dark’. This track is a celebration of Jah’s light, urging everyone to let it shine.
In June 2024, Jah Light visited France and met Winston McAnuff, who was in Paris for several performances. During their time together, they reminisced about their childhoods in Ivory Coast. Sergent Tchatcho, Winston’s host, teased Jah Light, and Winston responded with a memorable Jamaican expression: “Don’t put Jah light in the dark!”
AN IMPROMPTU JAM SESSION GAVE BIRTH TO A POWERFUL REGGAE TUNE
Inspired by this phrase, Jah Light grabbed his guitar and started humming. Winston joined in, and an impromptu jam session gave birth to their next single.
The following month, Winston performed in Abidjan at AZK Live, Jah Light’s home turf. The two artists reunited and recorded their new song in the studio. Asko Dibanko, Winston’s tour manager, added his unique energy and French melodies to the mix.
Together, they created “Don’t Put Jah Light in the Dark,” a powerful reggae tune that celebrates the light of Jah and encourages everyone to let it shine. This collaboration between three artists from two generations and two lands of reggae is a testament to the enduring spirit of rasta music.

ABOUT JAH LIGHT
Jah Light, born Vital Basile Valentin Okon in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, grew up surrounded by music. His passion for reggae led him to join local bands, including the group Jam in 2001. By 20, he left school to fully embrace music, touring across West Africa.
A multi-instrumentalist and devoted Rastafarian, Jah Light’s debut album, Almighty Zion Keepers, reflects 20 years of artistic dedication.

ABOUT WINSTON MCANUFF
Winston McAnuff, born in Manchester Parish, Jamaica, began his musical journey singing gospel in church. His early albums, Pick Hits to Click (1978) and What the Man “a” Deal Wid (1980), featured his iconic song “Malcolm X.” Known for his unique reggae sound, his career revived in Europe in 2002.
Winston is also the father of musicians Matthew McAnuff, Rashan “Black Kush” McAnuff, and Nadia McAnuff.

ABOUT ASKO DIBANKO
Asko Dibanko is an Ivorian international artist known for blending reggae, dancehall, and pop. He embraced music and Rastafari early on.
In 2013, he joined Lion Band and performed at the first Abi Reggae Festival, opening for Ky-Mani Marley. Now leading the Royal Spirit Band, Asko continues to captivate with releases like “Saint-Esprit” and “Y’a Quoi Dans Ta Tête.”
