RAS SHILOH STILL GOING STRONG WITH ALBUM “SEE IT DEH”

Nearly 30 years after his breakthrough hit “Are You Satisfied,” Ras Shiloh is still making waves in reggae. His album, “See It Deh”, released by Reggae Vibes Productions, proves that his message and music remain as powerful as ever.

In the summer of 1996, Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz were making history by qualifying for the 1998 World Cup. One song stood out during this time: “Are You Satisfied”.

The track, set to the rootsy Lalabella riddim, became an anthem, introducing the Brooklyn-born singer to Jamaican audiences.

Though raised in New York, Shiloh’s roots are in North Carolina. He was drawn to Jamaican dancehall culture, which flourished in the vibrant communities of Brooklyn, Queens, and The Bronx.

Fast-forward to today, and Ras Shiloh remains committed to his craft. “See It Deh” carries forward the doctrine of Rastafari, which has been central to his music since the early 1990s.

The album’s first three singles, “See It Deh,” “Tears From My Eyes,” and “On My Ship,” are filled with positive messages that reflect his deep spiritual beliefs.

Despite the challenges of tracking his discography, Shiloh’s mission is clear. “We never think about hits; we just think about a positive message and something strong for the people,” he says.

Ras Shiloh credits much of his early success to Tony Rebel, a key figure in the roots-reggae revival of the 1990s. Rebel introduced Shiloh to Jamaican audiences, comparing him to the late Garnet Silk. Those early days on the Lalabella riddim are memories Shiloh cherishes. Today, “See It Deh” shows that his voice and vision are as strong as ever.

Ras Shiloh, born Thomas Williams in Brooklyn, USA, is a reggae artist known for his tenor vocals, often compared to the late Garnett Silk. He began his music career in 1984 as Big Belly Youth, performing for the Golden Touch sound system in New York.

Nitty Gritty gave him his stage name, a reference to his height. As Ras Shiloh, he released roots tracks like “Time” and “Jah Calling”. After relocating to Jamaica in the mid-90s, he collaborated with top producers and performed with Buju Banton.

His debut album, “Ras Shiloh & Idrens Chants,” garnered critical acclaim. He continued touring and recording hits and released his third album, “Listen Well,” featuring guest productions from artists like Rebel and Morgan Heritage.
