BIRMINGHAM’S REGGAE STAR RELEASES SOULFUL EP, “HAIL H.I.M”
Get ready for a rootsy reggae experience! Birmingham’s rising star, Richie Culture, has released the first single from his EP, “Hail H.I.M.”, on Trench Road Records. This exciting release marks his second solo EP, following the success of “First Steps” in 2020.
“Hail H.I.M.” is a heartfelt tribute to Emperor Haile Selassie I, a pivotal figure in the Rastafari faith. Culture, himself a Rastafarian, pours his experiences and lifelong inspiration from Haile Selassie I into these four powerful tracks.
The music perfectly reflects the essence of Rastafari. It’s a mix of styles, from classic roots reggae to more contemporary sounds. There’s a strong message of unity, hope, and facing challenges with a positive outlook.

This is Richie Culture’s solo effort, letting his unique voice take centre stage. The EP is packed with talented musicians like Robbie Melody and Bongo Damo. Robbie Melody’s production is pure magic, capturing the rich, organic sound that defines Richie Culture.
The title track, “Hail H.I.M.,” is a perfect example. It opens with an ethereal Ethiopian flute and powerful Nyabinghi drums, setting the scene for a truly regal experience. Then, it explodes into a classic roots reggae beat, complete with a pulsating bass line and Richie’s soulful vocals.
Richie Culture says about the EP, “I always wanted to create something that honours Haile Selassie I and Rastafari. This EP reflects my life, the struggles we face, and the hope Rastafari brings.”

UK artist Richie Culture breathes music. Raised on the vibrant streets of Moseley, Birmingham, his lyrics blend city energy with his deep love for nature.
A recording artist and event producer, Richie has brought reggae legends like David Rodigan, Lila Iké, and Gardna to the Midlands and rocked the Shambala Festival for over a decade with his sound system, Young Culture. Bob Marley to Sizzla have inspired him, but Richie’s art is also rooted in his vegetarian life and connection to the earth.
