REGGAE HEAVYWEIGHT PROTOJE HONORS BOB MARLEY IN NEW SINGLE ‘LEGEND LEGEND’

Reggae innovator Protoje has dropped a new track, ‘Legend Legend,’ in tribute to the legendary Bob Marley. Known for his masterful blend of reggae and dancehall with hip-hop, soul, and jazz, his music captivates fans worldwide.

‘Legend Legend’ follows Protoje‘s recent hit ’30 Million’, produced by The FaNaTIX, a UK production duo who’ve worked with music giants like Nicki Minaj and David Guetta.

Inspiration struck Protoje while he was improvising in the studio. “I thought of Bob Marley’s compilation” he explains. “The idea just came to be creative and use his album and song title names to write the lyrics.”

LIFE’S THE GREATEST GIFT

This idea of honouring an inspiration by referencing their work isn’t new to Protoje. His father, calypso king Mike Ollivierre, did the same with a song for his idol Sparrow. He says, “I always thought it was a good concept to pay homage to someone you respect.”

While Protoje acknowledges the importance of money in his song with the line “As me talk, money mek,” he also reminds us of what truly matters: “Life a the greatest gift”.

With ‘Legend Legend’, Protoje skillfully blends infectious reggae rhythms with clever lyrics, creating a fitting tribute to the legendary Bob Marley.
